Letter 1920-1930, New York City [to] Mr. [Edwin] Markham, [Staten Island] / [Emily Ware.]. 1920-1930.

The letter is incomplete with no signature but i'm sure it is Emily Ware. Emily is discussing Harriet compostions and them being published. She tells of Harriet going to Europe and her plans of "Joan of Arc". She wants permission use "Conrades."

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
